Some advice on why you shouldn’t always listen to advice
How many times have you been confident about an idea you knew would work, but after hearing a few "opinions", you shove that idea straight back in its box, never to see the light of day?
You know, the best thing about advice is you don’t have to listen to it, right?
I don’t care who you are, you’re guilty of this. From both sides. But this you need to hear: Two people with complete opposing strategies, achieve the same end game, often.
I’ve seen it all: Investors wanting out; those wanting in. Love Sandton; hate it. Vacant; tenanted. There’s always an angle. Of course, some fail, but there are many that succeed.
I think the thing opinion teaches us, is that we all see the world from a different vantage point. And the point is, if it’s right for us, we’ll find our market. And if it’s right for our competitor they’ll find theirs. And the space exists for both of us.
We must learn to trust to ourselves and heed caution to opinion. The Universe is kind to those who listen.
